Elisha Childers
Executive Director, Children’s Council of Watauga County
Elisha Freeman has more than 26 years of experience in the administration and operation of nonprofit organizations. Her roles have included client services, program management, grant writing, fundraising, public relations, advocacy and executive leadership.
Freeman’s career began in 1991 when she accepted an internship, followed by her first job, at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, which ignited an interest in organizational psychology, leadership and development. After eight years, Freeman left to become the Executive Director of the Children & Family Resource Center in Hendersonville.
Freeman serves as the Agency Representative on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Henderson County, and is a member of the Hendersonville Rotary Club and the WNC Early Childhood Coalition.
Freeman holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Lenoir-Rhyne University. She also attended UNC-Greensboro, earning a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Child Development and Family Relations.
