Kevin Campbell
Chair, North Carolina Licensed Child Care Association; President, Smart Kids Child Development Center
Kevin Campbell is the owner/operator of five Smart Kids Child Development Centers in Mecklenburg, Gaston, Iredell and York (South Carolina) counties. He acquired his first center in 1993, and has advocated for enhancements to child care and early childhood programs from the child care providers viewpoint ever since.
Campbell’s centers are both private (parent funded) and participant in many of the state-funded programs, such as NC Pre-K and Smart Start. Working with these programs and having experience with the rules and regulations of child care gives him a hands-on, working knowledge of the challenges and opportunities providers face daily.
Campbell is currently Chair of the North Carolina Licensed Child Care Association legislative committee and a member of the Gaston County NC Pre-K local committee. He has a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University and a master’s degree from Duke University, both of which were in business administration. He also holds a Level Three Child Care Administrator Credential.
Campbell lives in Charlotte and has three children.
