This page provides links to training material given to nursing home providers and surveyors.
This fall the Nursing Home Licensure and Certification Section is offering training for coding for the Minimum Data Set 3.0 October 2025 version 1.20.1.
Six 90 minute training sessions are scheduled in September and will cover each section of the MDS 3.0.
We encourage all disciplines participating in completing any section of the MDS to attend. There is no charge, and the sessions have been set up for participants to attend any session listed. The link for Teams is the same for every session.

Tuesday September 15th, 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM, Session #1: Review assessment scheduling and coding in Section A, MDS schedule Related Regulations, Interview Strategies, and use of dashes.
Tuesday September 15th, 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM, Session #2: Review of Sections B, C, D, E, F, K, Q, Discharge Planning, and Related Regulations.
Wednesday September 16th, 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM, Session #3: Review of Sections GG, H, I, J, and Related Regulations.
Wednesday September 16th, 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM, Session #4: Review of Sections L, M, N, O, P, and Related Regulations.
Thursday September 17th, 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM, Session # 5: Review of Sections V, CAAs, Care Plans, and Related Regulations.

Each participant should print out or save a copy of the NC MDS 3.0 handout posted on the DHSR training webpage and have it available during the workshop. Having your copy of the RAI Manual may be helpful.
